Happy New Year!! Yes, Yes, I know, it is the later part of January, however I am only seeing you today. I hope each one of you had a nice Holiday season and have kick started this new year on a grateful note! As we begin this new year of 2023, we may get caught up in one or all four R’s of change:  Resolutions, Rejuvenations, Reflections, and even Recovery. Personally, I have stopped about a decade ago to come up with my “New Year’s Resolutions”.  I was finding that this word and what I created on my “New Year’s Resolutions list” never stayed. It never became a part of my core state of being. And it never spoke to the core of my plan, purpose, or mission. For whatever reason, a few weeks or a month later, I felt  disconnected to it and let it go from my mind and vocabulary.

I can’t recall what year it was or even how old I was when I decided to NOT come up with my New year resolutions.  I decided to consciously take a deeper look at who I was and who I wanted to be. I decided that consciously unpacking allowed me to grow and evolve mentally, spiritually, physically. I believe my brain compartmentalized that this process was under ‘my control’ and not me conforming to the ‘norm’. For me, ‘the norm’ was just never my path or my journey in this life. My ‘norm’ for as long as I can recall, was not like anyone else’s journey or experiences that I knew of. ..OR.. maybe, It was just me and my need to be ‘in control’ of the things I can ‘control’ and letting go of the things I had no control over. Whichever process it was, I know, for me, it has allowed me to see the new year, is just another milestone to choose me and make mindful choices to live an intentional life I wished and dreamed about. This I called MY RECOVERY to UNCOVER!

RESOLUTION: noun. The act or process of resolving, such as (a) the act of analyzing a complex notion into simpler ones. (b) the act of answering: SOLVING (c) the act of determining.  By: Merriam-webster.com

RECOVERY: noun. (1) A return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength. (2) the action or process of regaining possession or control of something stolen or lost. By: Definitions from Oxford Languages

MY RECOVERY TO UNCOVER!

This concept was my own way to recover. This mindset allowed me to regain my focus, reset my vision, and the ability to revive the life I envisioned. Yes, of course, any given day, I had the power to do just this, however there is this mental and spiritual pull on New Years Day that ignites an extra spark within me to reset, recover, and resolve.

Many of us, when we hear the word ‘RECOVERY’, we immediately jump to an addiction, a vice, and or even an injury. With that said, many of us, do not go to the idea that ‘RECOVERY’ is a form of self-care, self-love, self-acceptance, and self-reflection. It is taking full ownership of your assets, your strengths, your weaknesses, and especially your expansion of growth! It’s your own personal journey of uncovering it all. Peeling the layers of your own soul. Examining the rotten edges to repair them or toss them in the trash to never be seen again. It is the unpacking of every milestone’s lesson so we can hold them tight to gift them to others. It is the joyous gratitude of blessings we’ve received this past year. It is the time and space we create, allowing us to reflect upon these moments, set precise intentions moving forward. It is our own life plan to recovery from losses, amplify the glories of life, and decide how we’d like to move forward in life and or in our business.

It is in these moments that I learned so much more about myself, my family, and those I spent the majority of my free time with. It gave me clarity to my community and the environment I wanted to be a part of and the environment that I no longer needed to be part of. This process also allowed me extreme clarity and reflection to how I was perceived by others may not match how I believed I was being received. This uncovering process to recover allowed me to know that I no longer needed validation from another human to make me believe in myself. And the biggest lesson this journey has uncovered for me is that my creator, which is God, already gave me validation the moment He created me! The moment He planted all the seeds of my life, my aspirations, my dreams within me the moment I was created. It is through this recovery process that uncovered in 2023 that my God was just waiting for me to validate myself. To know my worth, my ability, my gifts. To own each one of them. To own my strengths and to own my weaknesses.
